One of the easiest ways to incorporate the power of plants into your routine is drinking herbal teas. Here are some of my go-to favourites:
- Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) – Full of antioxidant polyphenols, theobromine and a bit of caffeine, this is my wake up tea.
- Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) – A carminative tea, comprising of flavonoids and monoterpenes (giving its aroma), it is a great bedtime tea. Note: Avoid drinking in excess as it has been linked to anti-thyroid activity.
- Peppermint/Camomile – These two are mild digestive teas so try them after a meal if you’re feeling a little heavy.
- Turmeric (Curcuma longa) – This Ayurvedic herb has been studied extensively for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity. I drink the Yogi Tea ‘Turmeric Chai’ and it takes me right back to India.
